Somatic therapy

Somatic therapy is body-based psychotherapy that works with sensation, posture and breath to discharge stored stress and trauma. Practitioners draw on Somatic Experiencing, NARM, Hakomi or sensorimotor approaches. Sessions are typically 60–75 minutes, mostly verbal, with gentle physical awareness work.

Who somatic therapy is for

  • Clients who feel stuck in talk therapy and want a body-aware approach
  • People recovering from burnout, chronic stress or developmental trauma
  • Athletes and performers integrating mind-body recovery work

What to expect

  • A grounded, slow-paced conversation tracking sensation as it arises
  • Subtle movement, breath or touch (always consented) to support regulation
  • A practice your nervous system carries into daily life — not just an hour on a couch
